Gainesville Harvest

Faithfully Fit is our newest community outreach program where we seek to educate children, in prodominately low income areas, the importance of proper nutrition, etiquette and social skills. We are working with a few pilot sites around the county that already serve the children in their area. We are coming alongside these communities and supporting them with nutrition education, raised bed gardens (courtesy of Florida Organic Growers, www.forginfo.org, healthy fresh foods, and structured social interactions.

Phoenix Apartments, Gainesville - Annie McKoy runs an after school program for the kids living in Phoenix Apartments. On September 9th, 2009 the kids of Phoenix received 5 raised GIFT Gardens from Florida Organic Growers. So far they have planted black eyed peas, beets, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, parsley and spinach. One of the kids, Roman who is in 5th grade, said about cilantro "I've never heard of this, I want to plant it so I can try it." Fabulous!
